Phishing is a common cyberattack where scammers trick individuals into revealing sensitive information such as passwords, wallet secret phrases, or financial details. These attacks often appear as legitimate communications from trusted sources.
At Hipo, we are dedicated to educating our community to safeguard themselves from phishing scams. This page provides tips and examples specific to Hipo-related phishing attempts. We will continue updating it as we discover new and significant scam methods.
Phishing attacks usually occur in three stages:
Reach Out: Scammers contact you through emails, texts, or social media messages.
Gain Trust or Arouse Greed: They manipulate you by pretending to be trustworthy or by offering fake rewards and profits.
Steal Data or Money: The ultimate goal is to obtain sensitive information or funds.
You can prevent phishing by staying informed and gaining experience in identifying each step.

Be cautious of unknown messages, even from friends’ accounts, as they could be compromised. Avoid clicking on links or providing sensitive information without verification.

Scammers often create a sense of urgency or excitement. Beware of messages offering rewards, big profits, or threats like account suspension.

Never share your wallet’s secret phrase or other sensitive data with anyone or any service.

Solutions:
Hipo admins will never DM you first or ask for sensitive information or money.
Verify the website address to ensure it’s legitimate.

Example 2: Exclusive Investment Opportunity
Scenario: Someone contacts you, claiming to know you’re part of the Hipo community, and offers an exclusive investment opportunity.
